Welcome to the pages of Slovenia's Permanent Representation to the EU!

The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU in Brussels represents and promotes Slovenia’s interests in the EU. The Representation is thus a miniature state administration, employing diplomats who are experts in their fields and who come from Slovene ministries and government services. Our interlocutors in Brussels are the representatives of the other 26 EU Member States. Together we constitute the Council of the EU and maintain daily contact with representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Our biggest project in the near future will certainly be the second presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2021. In July this year, we begin co-chairing the Council of the EU together with Germany and Portugal in the so-called Trio.

The current SPBR website is under renovation and will soon get completely new look.

25 June - Slovenian Statehood Day

Having an independent Slovenian state was always the Slovenian people’s greatest wish. On 25 June, Slovenia celebrates Statehood Day. It is the day when Slovenia became formally independent. The Declaration on the Independence of Slovenia and the Basic Constitutional Charter on the Sovereignty and Independence of the Republic of Slovenia were adopted on that day.
